Wi-Fi Watering Hole: Small Town Coffee Company in Kapaa, Hawaii

This was one of two wi-fi coffee places within walking distance of our resort in downtown Kapaa on Kauai; but it was the one that had (a) better drinks; (b) better hours; and (c) free wi-fi.

We never ended up using the wi-fi, because our resort room had a high-speed connection (and later in the vacation my wrist prevented me from picking up the laptop and taking it there); but it was good to know it was there.

In addition to terrific espresso drinks, it featured a "fou fou steamer": Steamed milk with syrup flavoring. I didn't have one, but Amy and Helen did, and pronounced them delicious.

Plus, the place had that cool bohemian coffee place vibe -- as shown by the floors, carpeted with old Japanese newspapers:

Hello, I am sure your wrist is better and your memories of Kauai still fresh in your head.

On a different note, did you know that Kauai has the worst police officers in the state?

You can do a google search and find out or...

I have some very interesting information and proof of deliberate prosecutorial misconduct for you.

The article written below by the Houston Daily Court Review:

Defendant Says He Won't Go
John Tompkins

James J. Alfini, BA, Columbia University JD Northwestern University School of Law President, Dean and Professor of Law First Amendment expert spoke with a news reporter regarding the County of Kauai's PLEA OFFER for Pinkerton:

"the prosecution is not forcing Pinkerton to take down his site, it is overstepping its bounds of authority.

"It's banishment," Alfini said. "The point is to get him out of their hair which suggests that he may have something on them."

A lot of criminal defendants often accuse police of brutality while in custody. But Alfini said the prosecutor's requests for Pinkerton to leave the island, take down his site and drop civil suits against the city do give his case a good amount of credence.

He added that the prosecution, with this proposed agreement is looking to take care of their interests rather than the interests of the defendant, which should be the focus of any plea deal.

"I don't see subsidiary restorative or rehabilitative aspect of it," Alfini said. "The sum total of what they are doing is asking the defendant to give up some rights. I think this is improper."

There may be no legal precedent about the legality of the prosecution's request, Alfini said. The fact that Pinkerton's Web site is both a personal journal and a medium makes the case somewhat difficult.

"This is a whole new era," he said. "It gives people the opportunity to put out their message like they never have before."

Incidentally, I appeared pro se for the impersonating trial; the prosecution dropped the charges stating they had no witnesses.

I contest though that the second arrest was specifically for terroristic threatening and intimidating a Witness....against the investigating officer from the 1st arrest.

In court, the two felonies purposefully reduced to a single count harassment to keep the evidence out of the hands of a jury...bail still set at 10k, typically a harassment charge is 50 bucks.

Even the judge comments on this. It is all on the website in QuickTime, RealPlayer or WindowsMedia formats. The link is "court transcripts", the date is 1/10/06.

I smell a foul odor...and have been for quite some time.

Then the third arrest on 3/5/06....then an indictment on 8/21/06 for the same charges from the 3/5/06 arrest to prevent me from presenting the evidence or cross examining witnesses at the evidentiary hearing 8/24/06 for the 3/5/06 arrest.

Reviewing the Grand Jury hearing the prosecutor dismisses the states witness without the jurors questioning her (female cop), they eventually make the prosecutor bring her back. All three witnesses - ALL COPS - have conflicting testimony.

The website is going to please you as it hosts audio files of police officers making terroristic threats, making felony arrests without a warrant or indictment at my house at 2AM (12/14/05), screen captures, phone records and police reports.

The details behind their campaign have been detailed on my site which led prosecutors to ask me to give up more of my rights as depicted in their plea offer.

Talk about prosecutorial and police corruption, I am living with it everyday. I have been given the strength to pursue this exposure and certainly hope you can see the potential for a good story. I am in the midst of uncovering a hit and run incident involving our First Deputy Prosecutor who fled the scene. Our island is so small and as a result of our defunct police department people come to me to help, hence me being a target. Tis ok, I welcome the challenge.

I have coined the phrase, "MY KEYBOARD HITS HARDER THAN THEIR BATON"

Nov 20, 06 jury trial will be continued.
