Jimmy Doohan, R.I.P.

The second member of the original Star Trek cast to go. (The first was Deforest Kelley.) He survived six bullet wounds on D-Day and decades of typecasting. His talent as a character actor was showcased on the '70's Star Trek animated series, for which he did most of the incidental voices.

I met him at a convention in San Francisco in the '80's, found him a complete gentleman for the 30 seconds I talked with him, and got this autograph.

Yeah, he was a great guy. One of his sons used to work with me at Wizards of the Coast, and he (James Doohan) got the whole company free sneak preview passes for one of the Star Trek movies.

Here's some sad trivia. Wende Wagner who played Brit Reid's Secretary "Casey" died some years back

Too bad Ms. Wagner was stunningly beautiful in the '60's. At least I got to meet Van Williams (the Hornet himself) about 15 years ago.
